x1900xt(x) voltage booster mod

Thread Starter
In case you ever want to consider putting a mousepot and maybe a little dry ice on your "old" x1900xt(x) you are gonna need more vgpucore than you can ask atitool for in order to counter-act the annoying cold bug that is not too difficult to fend off.

When xtremesystems seemed to have deleted hipro5's thread, one of the first to perform this mod, I thought maybe the claims that people ruined their cards meant the mod was risky to use, but one of my favorite sites seems to have posted the exact same mod, so it's likely the case that people with uneasy hands have burned components on their cards.

http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=15800

I'm gonna do the vgpu and vddci mod in a few days, and order a new pelt for it, so Ill post whether my card is still alive when I'm thru , my camera is in the mail. Supposedly the card won't post when it doesn't like some adjustments, so this will be interesting.

How much voltage are we talking about? 1.575v isn't enough on the vcore?

It was not enough for my 188w pelt waterblock. I have been at a 775mhz wall because I couldn't get any more vgpu and vddci, both maxed

Getting a colder pelt for it too

What voltage were you running to the pelt? More voltage = more efficient with pelts. A 226watt pelt @ 12v for instance is only equal to about 175-18 watts.

Your swiftech block comes with the 188watt pelt, which is a 19v max unit. And only at 19v will it produce 188watts. at 12v, its only pushing about 110watts. So getting a 226w pelt with a vmax of 14v will be much better.

This is the it:

http://www.trcelectronics.com/Meanwell/sp-300-15.shtml

The sp-300-15. It seems you cant find any mcw5002-t waterblocks anymore and it might be getting similarly difficult to find a mcw60-t, so you might want to jump on one

Is there a water block for the voltage regulars? Mine still go into the 70's or higher while my core is at 50C.
