Friend needs new laptop, suggestions?

Thread Starter
Hey guys, a friend of mine is starting school (I know, weird start time) but her current laptop isn't cutting it. It is old and I'm tired of working on it, tbh, and recommended she purchase a new one. I don't have a lot of time this week to spec out things and haven't dealt with laptops in years for what brands and models are the best these days. I was hoping you guys would be able to help out.

She doesn't need the laptop to game, photoshop, design, etc. so a graphics card isn't something that need be included. She will use it basically for papers and I guess other course work, but this will also be her personal laptop as well. I haven't kept up to date on AMD's new AMUs or w/e they are called that put both CPU/GPU in one but if that is the way to go lemme know.

Not a true price range, but I'd like to keep it on the lower side since she is a student. If you guys have preferences of brands feel free to input your opinions, I'll be reading and comparing all the posts so I can give her a better list of options.

Thanks in advance for taking time out of your days to do this for me.

When it comes to choosing laptops that have good specs for a reasonable price, Asus will win. But If you want a laptop with decent specs and it looks decent, you can get Lenovo's for a pretty cheap price ($600-800) and they have quad core i7 processors in them.
