Convince me to build AMD?

Thread Starter
I currently have a budget rig and I want to upgrade so I can play my games without lag/lowering settings.

My full system specs:

CPU: Pentium G620
RAM: G.Skill 1333 2x4GB
HDD: Crucial m4 60GB
GPU: HIS Radeon 7770 1GB
Motherboard: ASRock H61M U3S3
Power Supply: Rosewill HIVE 550w
Monitor: HP 2311x 1080p

I don't want to spend a whole lot. I know I can re-use most of my system. What are some good reasons to switch to AMD instead of just getting an i5 CPU?

Some of the games I play:
- Guild Wars 2
- Diablo III
- Borderlands 2
- Dishonored
- Dirt 3
- Max Payne 3

Would upgrading to an i5 give me enough or is my GPU hurting me too?

Coming from an old AMD guy, I can say even with the 8150/8350 you will be better off with a i5 2500k or 3570k for general gaming purposes

An fx-4300 and an Asrock 970 extreme3 will get you some good performance and some fun overclocking.

your GPU is half decent, but an i5 would be much better for what you are doing than an amd cpu

I only spent $100 total for both my Pentium and motherboard, so it's not that big of a deal to switch platforms. However, this was my first Intel build that I ever did. I also kind of feel like I should support AMD since they are doing so bad right now.
