Eyefinity and vsync

Thread Starter
I use eyefinity/crossfire with 3 portrait monitors. I get pretty bad screen tearing because vsync doesn't work. As far as I can tell, there is no way to get eyefinity to work with vsync. Searching shows a few cases of this with no solution, although I haven't found solid information, Ie an article from AMD explaining that there are technical issues preventing vsync from working with eyefinity.

Have any of you found a solution? Or know that there will or won't be one?

Does Nvidia surround work with vsync?

Running games in a window is a workaround; vsync works there, although crossfire doesn't.

Two ASUS EAH6950s. As far as I've been able to determine, no one, on any ATI Crossfire setup has gotten eyefinity and vsync to work together in fullscreen.

That's what I'm finding as well. Seems it caps it at 120FPS in crossfire, too.

Does it happen without crossfire?

EDIT: Portrait setup might be a problem too. Tearing is more proliferate vs landscape.

I can confirm that I get a 120 FPS cap. Vsync does not work with crossfire or without. A 60 fps cap helps in games that support it, but I still get tons of tearing; the 3 x portrait monitors aren't helping. (Portrait mode is more susceptible to tearing)

I posted a thread in the Nvidia forum asking about Nvidia surround, and apparently vsync works for them. May switch for this reason next upgrade if it doesn't get sorted out.

At this point, I don't think it's going to be fixed. This is an issue that's been around for several HD Radeon families.

Thank you. I'm going to try to confirm that Nvidia surround doesn't also suffer from this problem, and check that it supports HDMI audio without problems.

Have you considered asking in the ATI/AMD GPU section?
