unless cccchinese arent like usa citizen ,us we say buy america, them i am pretty sure they yell in mandarin:BUY CHINESE
i could be wrong but i doubt it,why?because china is squarelly aiming where ms is weak and apple and android new to the idea(relativly compared to desktop windows)and its mobile market, they aim all their product for smartphone, tablet and laptop ,exactly what people all over the world want
they arent ready?google lemote for fun!(ya they are a chinese maker!)
nvm!here:http://www.lemote.com/en/

Did you even read the article? It address your very claim.

Windows piracy in China is rampant... People are willing to pirate Windows to obtain it rather than use the FOSS alternative that is Linux.

This negates anything else you claim. Most people don't want Linux on the desktop, period.

i doubt it!i believe chinese market will move to linux!and the rest of the world will follow!wine is powerfull enough, they dont need windows!sound and live streaming issue?come on !2 software are the issue!its linux we talk about not noob out of world of warcraft! even ms had a hard time adapting to linux high standard!dont sweat it, in the coming 18 month ¸,their main lack will be fixed.and they arent many,if i was speaking mandarin and if i was chinese?i wouldnt bother with windows !why ,because their mips system is better and will surpass us in the mobile market by the end of 2013 ,remember their design isnt the flaw they just need a shrinkage!it wouldnt take long?they just call a maker in those size (samsung come to mind)i didnt update to w8 ,because i know full well i will need to learn linux.i cant ignore a big market like that !even if just 10 % adopt linux in china,it will still be 40 million user!

False. Chinese market thrives off stealing. It can't steal Linux, thus it has no interest in it

Maybe he's older than we think. My girlfriends mom has been in the US for like 20 years....but her English sucks compared to my gf's who's only been here about 6 years

With that said, MS isn't going anywhere, and Linux is not going to take over the desktop market. While Linux is fine for causal users, many of those users will prefer to stick with something more familiar if given the choice. Even though Win8 brings more obvious changes than previous releases, it's still Windows and it still behaves more or less like Windows. As far as corporate usage, going with a known commodity is always safer than an unknown. Businesses already have established IT/support routes, software licensing contracts, and employee training systems or requirements. For most businesses, this all centers on Microsoft and Microsoft compatible products.
I know that anything you can do in Windows can be done in Linux (unless it involves DirectX), but Linux takes a lot more investment than the "it's a free OS" crowd seem to realize. In short, the inertia of Microsoft's OS supremacy will be enough to keep them going for a long time.

Yep.

Also, logically speaking, Microsoft's paid tech support will be far superior and more reliable than anything free community-based support can provide. Businesses that run mission-critical stuff cannot rely on potentially unreliable and/or slow support unless they have IT professionals well verse in Linux. And at that point, they are paying for Linux in a way, in the fact that they're paying for people to run and troubleshoot it. On the other hand, they pay Microsoft license fees, and they don't have to pay for training of personnel and keeping of staff. The Linux option is really only feasible for very large, centralized businesses.

Windows dying what a joke, most computers have windows and i don't think its going any where, Microsoft should of put a system where you chose the start button or the metro start menu that is the only flaw i see with windows 8 which i am using.

This thread speaks to something many people think is a problem, but to the end user in the future will be a real gain: Competition. It is a part of the market that the average mainstream user forgets is necessary in a market, what with many industries seeing more or less dominance by one or two companies doing relatively the same thing. Even if one group remains dominant, they are still forced to make efforts to attract the users of other products (which most likely hold their interests due to features and capabilities that the dominant force lacks), and this results in them making their product better, sometimes in radically large steps, as we've seen Microsoft do recently.

in MY view!i believe ms complicated things for no reason!the market just needed wrist kinect ,sell us that you would still have made your profit (probably way more)and everybody on the planet will buy it!
true ms was pressured into doing wrsit kinect because of another company that is close to release a matchbox unit that will empower the harry potter in all of us to wave our magic to control our computer with our hands and finger!
