GTX480 SLi heavy flickering/strobing effect in all 3D apps. - Page 2

OK! I've tried my GPUs on cousin's PC. Both work fine without a glitch and I used my own SLI bridge. So, bad GPU or bridge speculations are out of the picture. Here are some benchies from the test:

Those symptoms are almost always caused by either the driver set that you are using being bad or by the SLI bridge not being properly fitted.

Have you tried 296.10 drivers? 285.68 were the most stable out of the 2xx.xx series. Heck it could even be the output port, try using different ports with different connectors. Swap around the GPU's etc.

I am having an identical issue.

I just built a new system with an ASUS Rampage IV Extreme motherboard, i7 - 3970 CPU, Corsair Vengeance 32GB, and two ASUS GeForce GTX 780s. I haven't done any overclocking yet. The games work fine when SLI is disabled. I know both boards work. But when I set them up in SLI I get a strobe effect. So far I have been working with NVIDIA. All of their suggestions and different driver versions have not remedied the problem.

Worse yet... When I try to disable SLI in the NVIDIA Control Panel, my screen goes to black. My only recourse is to reset the system. When it comes back up, both of the 780 devices show up as disabled.

I am looking for any and all suggestions.

My problems have gone away. Here is what I tried/did...

I originally used the SLI strap that came with the GPUs. I changed to using the one that came with the motherboard. This didn't fix the problem.

I swapped positions of the graphics boards and magic happened. Everything works now. I assume that something was not properly seated, but I made sure the boards were well seated after I initially encountered the strobing problem. So its a mystery still.
