AsRock?
I've owned 3 of those boards (had a Intel DX79SI which is pretty close to the SR) and found the EVGA X79 Classified the easiest to overclock. I'd only recommend it if you can acquire it cheap otherwise go with Intel.

On a side note, EVGA quality control is astonishing. I bought a brand new X79 FTW and found the out the reset button kept sticking. So I sent it in for a RMA and got a whole new board with the SAME issue. /sigh
post #5 of 60
Even if it has issues, I would have voted for the Extreme11.

I vote for the RIVE.

It is the best featured board out of those four. A proper extreme motherboard has to be able to take advantage of all of the platform's features. As such, the EVGA X79 Classified, with only four DIMM slots, is not contending for first place. MSI's Big Bang XPower II doesn't have Vcore offset adjustment. Intel seems like a good choice, but it doesn't have all the features of the RIVE either.

Oh, and this is entirely subjective, but the RIVE is the best looking out of those four.

Yeah, why no ASRock? Anyways, I would have to choose the RIVE out of those.

I had to vote for the Asus. I like the extra power supply it has for the CPU (largely unneeded, however nice to have the option) - and to me it's the best looking. I love the Red / Black theme.

I was going to vote for the MSI since I would love to load all of those slots up with water cooled 7970 Lightnings and a nice Linux distro for some BOINCing but my experience with ASUS has been one of the best with their motherboards. I've heard nothing but praise for the RIVE and would love to set that puppy up with a 3960X, 64GB of Corsair Dominator RAM, 2 HIS 7970 X2s and 2 Crucial M4 512GB SSDs in Raid 1. Now that would be a dream machine biggrin.gif

Absolutely love my XPower II, I'd put the RIVE at 2 though. I'm usually an EVGA fan boy but their X79 board kinda took a dive for no good reason, I heard nothing but crap from users.
