[IGN] Halo 4 scores a 9.8/10 - Page 12

See to me complaining about perks such as different types of armor, sprint abilities or grenades giving an unfair advantage in a FPS is just the epitome of nonsense.

"Oh my GOD that noob had a special armor ability that made him more powerful then me, someone put a stake in this game it sucks and is unbalanced". All the while for years and years no one mentions how the little things like oh I don't know, the WEAPONS can cause imbalance themself.

Seriously you mean to tell me b/c someone has an armor powerup it's all the sudden a problem yet in Halo 2 if all you had was a pistol and someone with equal talent had a rocket launcher you were screwed isn't?

Please, anyone had access to all of these skills and or powerups you guys say ruins the game. It's absolutely no different spawning with armor then it is someone running to a rocket launcher. If you now try to say well of course it's different b/c the weapon you had to actually run and pick up on the map, I'd reply with well those powerups and grenade abilities are the exact same way, you could run and pick them up.

You just can't win with everyone that is ALL this boils down too. The majority of the people who say Halo Reach sucks b/c it changed the game to much by adding powerups and abilities are the same people who bash Call of Duty like no tomorrow for NOT changing the game up. It's quite comical.

In short people just find things to dislike about games. I think it's just b/c we are all getting older and cynical. Think back to when you were kids playing NES games, you didn't hark on every little minor thing you disliked, you simply fell in love with all the things you did.

Halo has always been more complex. Perks, armor abilities and classes do not make the game any more unbalanced than it already was. Weapons and tanks do that pretty well.

As for the Reach discussing, I prefer the previous Halo games before Reach. I find the approach in combat of the previous Halos a strong suit of each game. Everyone was at an equal level. Same armor strength, same starting weapons, etc. It was really up to you on how well you'll perform. Reach, with it's introduction of the armor powers and loadouts, provides variation to who you'll face. In many situation, it can give an advantage in combat against other players, and skill may not play as large as a role as it use to. Winning the match could solely be dependent and achieved on one loadout. I remember players killing one another to get a shotgun or rifle in Halo 3, but everything seems to be spoon-feed to you in Reach with loadouts. It makes the game noob-friendly IMO. Some might prefer the variation, but IMO, Halo would have been better off without the armor abilities. Change isn't always defined as good.

Sounds like you were not skilled enough to kill the people using it. tongue.gif Halo Reach requires more skill than the previous Halo's. I guess that is one of the reasons why I prefer it.

rolleyes.gif Sounds like you didn't play the game, nor the other ones..If you compare 3 to Reach, you can say it takes more skill. But definitely not when compared to 2.

Sounds like you have not played any of them. I own 1 - 3. Getting Reach again. And getting 4. I know they all require skill. Reach just required more variety of skills than just dodging. I have played every Halo that has release. Just as I have played every Jak and Daxter, every Battlefield and every Elder Scrolls game.

Did you play Halo 2 during it's prime? (2004-2007 or so) I have a hard time believing somebody that had *really* played it during it's height could say it wasn't the best. I know a lot of people that have played every Halo game and didn't like 2, but when I push for details they end up letting me know they didn't play it when it was the big game during that time period. Halo 2 had a massive competitive scene. It required serious skills if you wanted to be on a big name team. Halo 2 is the game that paved the way for leagues like MLG. To say Reach 'takes more skill' is a pretty biased judgement if you ask me.

I fail to see how that counters my opinion. I prefer the combat of previous Halo's vs Reach. I don't like armor abilities or loadouts. I never said Reach sucks; it just isn't a game I enjoyed playing. No need to shove your love of Reach down my throat.

Considering I am not bad at any of them. And yes I have played Halo in 2004 and early 2005, it was good for its time. BF1942 and Vietnam beat it out at the time though, so I did not get over 25 hours into the online of Halo 2. But compared to Halo now (Halo Reach), Halo 2's multiplayer is decent compared. Halo Reach does take more skill, no bias. Halo got steadily worse after CE until Reach. Halo 2 was the last good Halo that I have played up until Reach.
As for the reason why it is decent now compared to Reach, Halo 2 does not offer as much, there is less you have to think about in Halo 2 compared to Halo Reach.
