[IGN] Halo 4 scores a 9.8/10 - Page 25

I suggest to anyone who likes the Halo stories to read the Novels if you have not already. They expand the Halo lore a tremendous amount, and they are fantastic books. I enjoyed the campaign. Personally I like fighting covenant more than the forerunners. For multiplayer I am enjoying big team slayer. It does appear to me that you die faster, but that also means I get kills faster. As for maps they are much better than Reach's imo. The vehicles also seem a lot easier to take down. Atm I give halo 4 a 9.5/10 with them adding patches and fixing the few little gripes it could easily be a 10/10 in my book.

Man, thank you! I have to spend 5 days next week sitting around woman's parents house with dial up. I could desperately use some reading material.

Your welcome. Make sure to read them in the right order. The ones by Eric Nylund imo are the best ones.

Just would like to add something:
I have a friend, that hadn't played Halo for god knows how long, and isn't an FPS type person.
However, he bought H4 after my recommendation, and is always online gaming - he loves it.

I can't stop saying: "well done 343"

The thing is, it is not my opinion. There's a reason why it got high reviews and it is popular. It obviously is doing something good.
You're only seeing 30 frames every second, instead of 60 or more.

Also the game runs at 720p...The average monitor size is at least 1680x1050. Again, another example of seeing less. Although this doesn't apply so much to the mouse vs controller debate.

I was playing Fallout on my PS3, of course it runs unstable so at the time I tested something it was running ~18 - 20FPS. What I tested involved fast moving objects, I turned quickly while looking at the solar arrays at Nellis, when staring directly at the array, I noticed 1cm (on my 32inch TV running at 720p). That is not noticeable unless you are specifically trying to find it.

I don't see why he'd need to play the others before playing this one. They all feel the same and unless he's new to FPS he'll pick up the style of play pretty quick i imagine.

What happened to team snipers they do away with that mode? I hope they bring it back that's how i practiced sniping.

As for the argument of FPS this is just my opinion on it but though people say the eye can't distinguish above 30 there is a huge difference in 30-60 as far as fluidity of motion and gameplay is concerned.

Maybe I missed the post you were referring to, you didn't quote, but I agree and disagree. Gameplay is pretty much the same between games, so that's right. However, I think it benefits to play the prior games to get a real feel for the story and experience the series. It will help with story immersion and making you feel a connection with the story. If you only plan to really play online though, then sure, hop into Halo 4 and just run with it, you'll enjoy yourself all the same.

No there is no difference between 30 and 60 FPS unless you are really trying hard to notice differences. I barely noticed a 1cm (18 pixels) frame difference at 20FPS and I had to do that test 5 - 8 times before noticing it. So no, unless you have 20/15 vision, you will never see the difference between 30 and 60 FPS. You will always see the instability in video games Minecraft for example.
