680i SATA problems - Page 3

I have found that with Intel chips the way to go is with Intel chipsets. Someday this might change but so far all I have ever seen is non-enthusiast level or buggy chipsets from off vendor chipsets.

There are many speaking of the SATA and RAID issues on high overclocks with this chipset.

What surprises me is that the price of this new chipset board is so high.

Hi gang. New to this forum. But have been searching all over for more info, etc. for a MAJOR 680i flaw.
As a few of you might know...by either reading the Evga forum or from problems with your new build. There is a huge sound issue with the 680i board when using 8800's in SLI.
Now before anyone starts with the Creative issue...NO...this is the MoBo that is the problem.
Please read the Evga forum under motherboards for all the details.

What I am looking for is the "patch" or modded driver for the 975 based boards. I am about done with all the issues that this 680i board has.
I just spent $5k+ on this new build only to find out I can not run SLI and/or sound at the same time.
I get TONS of BSOD,boot problems,SATA,etc. I have never had this many problems with a new build that is less the two weeks old.

Yes this board is fast. Yes if it worked right it would be the next best thing to sliced bread....BUT....it don't work as it should.

So...I have this nice, new X6800, two 8800GTX's and want to use them al together.
Anyone have the 975 SLI mod and have run one that way? Does it REALLY work?

Thanks,BigBamBoo

I've already posted it, the title in the evga forum is the same as this one "680i Sata problems" under the motherboards section. User name is Dman86.

Well I've installed a firmware update from seagate, and put my OC back to 3.2ghz, seems fine so far after a few hours, hope it stays like this.
