And this is a highly recommended setup, considered a beginner level hi-fi setup that's much better then "computer speakers"

And any of these can be switched out if you have the budget for better parts. This is what I have and I'm very happy with it thumb.gif

edit: and this would leave room for a sound card biggrin.gif

and this is a great thread to check out: http://www.overclock.net/t/1014902/ocns-most-recommended-audio-products

Wow that's pretty cheap!

Yep. I found this in the thread that I posted in my first reply (http://www.overclock.net/t/1014902/ocns-most-recommended-audio-products). There's a lot of great info in there. But I was blown away when I got it coming from the logitech x-530's.

What do you guys think about the Swan m10 and Swan M50W?

And also what about a sound card/DAC for speakers and Audio-Technica ATH-AD700?

Thanks wheee.gif

Edit: Is the set up of Dayton Audio DTA-1, Dayton Audio B652 and Dayton Audio SUB-800 be a better set up then the active speaker sets i listed above? providing i can get them shipped to Aus without needing to sell a kidney tongue.gif

Down Under, the Microlab Solo series are very reasonably priced and that with an accompanying 8-10" active sub in the used market would be my solution wink.gif

best speakers ever for computer. the system is actually parts of a home theater system, but they package it as a 2.1 for computers.

I've heard good things about the swans but never listened to them myself. Not sure what shipping rates are like though.

As for a sound card for speakers and headphones there are some sound cards with a built in headphone amp like some of the asus xonar series thumb.gif

Im thinking about the Swan M10's but im really little worried about the humming that people have been reporting after a few months.

I just had a quick look ASUS Xonar Essence STX i like how its got separate headphone and speaker inputs, just a little unsure about the virtual 7.1 im use to 5.1, so that would be a bit different to get use to lol.

I use 4 B652's and the Sub-800 along with my Yamaha HTR-5640, Still looking for a nice PC sized center if anyone has any thoughts, Sounds great to be honest. I'm using the Receivers Multi-Channel Inputs on the back of the receiver to connect it to my sound card witch does all my sound processing. I have a X-FI Xtreme Gamer sound card and with the CMSS-3D tech I can set it to Xpand which Mirrors the front and back, just like my HTR-5063 does when you put it into stereo 7.1 which my older HTR-5640 doesnt have option for. Makes Music sound great, Gets vary loud, subwoofer is powerful enough to get the job done not to bass heavy. System doesn't disappoint, I already had the receiver so the Cost of the speakers and sub was pretty cheap. I had a Logitech G51 5.1 speaker system before that and this blows it out of the water. I used to listen to music all the time on my ATH-A700 but the speakers have been so enjoyable to listen to unlike the OK sound quality I used to get out of that Logitech setup that I use them all the time now. The setup requires some room, but if you make the space its worth it for the price.
