Microsoft rolled out not only the brand new Windows 8 operating system, but also the so-called marketing blitz, an advertising campaign supposed to make people aware that a new Windows is available.

More than half of computer users however haven’t even heard about Windows 8, a study conducted by the Associated Press and market researcher GfK has found.

That is really not surprising, at all.

Can I get paid to do these surveys?

It says computer users, not population. Also, those who answered are online survey takers, so they must have at least some internet activity.

Plenty of users have already expressed their support for Windows XP and confirmed they would stick to this Windows build until something more user-friendly comes up.

This is the worst part of the whole article. Windows XP needs to die. It has been out for 10 years now. Anyone still using it needs to upgrade. There is no excuse for running a 10 year old OS. thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

ypu gotta give them this: winxp is sturdy and lightweight, ideal for slower pc's.
and also, win8 will prolly fail just like WinME, WinVista and stuff before that.

windows has always brought out a good version, followed up by a crappy version because an OS simply takes a lot of code and time. Thet just cant wait because ele they'll loose a big market share.

so ill put my money on win8 being as good as vista.

Somehow I get the feeling that those who haven't heard of W8, likely not being up on tech in general, are the type who won't fancy the UI changes one bit.

Pretty much this. Back in 09, most of the people I had talked to would actually ask me about Windows 7, and I strongly recommended it. Now I'm not sure if people want to upgrade to a new OS already and relearn their way around the new UI.

I agree. They are most likely computer USERS, not computer experts or hobbyists. They are people like my mother, aunts, etc. People who hop on their Windows 7 machines because I set it up and it "just works" and it is something similar to what they have used for years. They are interested in USING a computer, not learning some stupid menu system just for the sake of using a touchscreen they don't have.

Hey look! Softpedia! rolleyes.gif

*Ignore*

I would be willing to bet the numbers on Win7 were quite similar when it released.
