What to use when attaching acrylic plates?

What do you use to attach some acrylic plates into a case but without permanently attaching it like glue.
I was thinking about attaching some velcro to the acrylic and the case so that it can be removed if I have to mess with cables or something.

I'd like to have black acrylic plates instead of white ones like in this build: http://event.asus.com/rog/fusion_thermo_promotion/page/uploads/ASUS201207/l/381.jpg

It'll be used to hide uneven surfaces in my case and also some 10/8 tubing.

I would drill and tap ~4 holes on the surface you are trying to cover, place the acrylic sheet over it, and screw it in with the appropriate number of black oxide hex screws. The end result is pretty clean if you drill the holes symmetrically..

check with a hardware store if they have anything like that, 6-32, M3, or M4 sized is preferable. Chances are that they won't have black oxide screws, but a quick spray with spraypaint won't stop the ultimate look.

And if the surface you are covering is bumpy, you can use spare motherboard standoffs to lift the acrylic panel.. the only downside is that you might be restricted to buy 6-32 hex screws (not much of a problem)

So.. Drilling is the only way out? It'll be my last option. I'd like not to since I've got a lot of small places to put the acrylic plates. But if that's the only option I'll take it.

Velcro will work. It won't work however if the area it is stuck to gets warm. The glue gets soft and things start to slide and un-stick. If there is no heat source close to the velcro it can stick for ages.

Scotch #4010 double-sided clear adhesive tape of the Gods. It sticks forever, unless you absolutely need it not to, and it's thinner than a velcro solution, not to mention ridiculously easy to apply. It's easy enough to remove, but not as easy as velcro is, so that could very well be the better choice.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think I'll go with the double sided tape. Sounds more firm and I won't be needing to take it off any time soon unless I do some future upgrades to my pc.

Alternatively, you could use some small neodymium magnets. Glue them to the back of the panel with epoxy.
