660Ti on a 430W?

Thread Starter
I'm thinking of getting a Nvidia 660ti and pairing it with my sig rig. Would there be any problem running it on a Corsair CX430?

Cpu is overclocked to 4.5ghz and I'm running 4 Hdd's.

Thanks! smile.gif

nVidia suggests 450w, but you may be able to get by without issue.

At stock clocks on the GPU, maybe but you'll be pushing it. If you plan to overclock it, not a chance.

No Problem at all. I had 6 HDD, Water Cooling Pump, 10 fans, HD 7970, 3570K @ 4.6Ghz and the highest i have seen was 380W. With that system though why cheap out in PSU?

The thing is that I've just got enough money to spend on a 660ti. No chance can I get a new quality PSU and graphics card together.

Thanks for the input anyway, whats the highest AMD card I can run with this PSU? ( i'm really bad with ATI cards).

You could run up to HD 7970, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's also not in the recommended range for HD 7950 with extremely heavy overclocks and benchmarking loads (gaming loads okay). HD 7870 and below should definitely be okay.

For all these, you need to use a molex -> PCIe power adapter, but that's true for the GTX 660 Ti too.

The suggests power rating is peak power not continuous power.

I've got a 670 and it is humming along just fine on my 450W power supply. The 660Ti is more or less similar, so you should not have much of any issues. thumb.gif

You will be way more than fine with a 660Ti on a 430W. No worries.
