Need advice for 2 things.

Thread Starter
Hi, this is my first first thread and post I think on overclocker.net.

I will ask -if possible- that my two specific questions will be answered by people that have the correct answers WITH proof and/or with experience to back you up, I dont want any speculation from an average member who ''thinks'' that this might work. No I want answers like a yes/no with explanation, not a maybe that should work. My computer skill level is average to high, so thats why I'm here for my questions. If you can only answer one of the two questions, please feel free to do so.

So here it goes:

First, I have a friend that is planning to get dual GTX 690 in Quad SLI, so far I recommended him the i7-3930K because any CPU that are below (any Ivy or Sandy bridge) this one will DEFENETLY create a massive bottleneck on the 2x 690s. I know the i7-3960X though is a better and more powerfull CPU then the i7-3930K, but not enought to be noticeable on benchmarks or in game. So my question is, why does the i7-3960X cost 460$ more then the i7-3930K, I mean there's got to be an advantage somewhere? And what I want to know is, is that advantage for preventing Bottleneck with multiple GPUs? If there's not difference that will affect Bottleneck on the cards because of the CPU, wil the i7-3930K be fine for 2x GTX 690s in Quad SLI?

Second, couple of days ago, I bought myself a 240GB SSD SATA III HyperX to replace my main one which is a 128GB SSD SATA III Corsair. I've looked on the internet to learn how to transfer/copy the entire OS and programs from a drive to another. It was actually pretty easy to find, but my problem is, most of them are people going from an HDD to an SSD, so obviously from bigger memory space to smaller (but faster), and all they have to do is partition the HDD to the same size of the SSD and then VoilĂ . But me, I'm going from a smaller SSD to a bigger one. So is it possible to transfer/copy the entire OS with programs install and everything without limiting my partition to my new drive to 128GB and let it be 240GB? If so how?

Thank you for your time.

as for the 3930k vs 3960X, it depends on resolution. For 1080p you will be bottlenecked by the actual game's max framerate. (BF3 tops at 200FPS). So higher resolutions would be better. I'm no expert though.

For your SSD, it is possible to change the partition size on your OS after transferring the data. Just copy it as 128GB then expand it to 240GB. Just remember to re-validate windows thumb.gif
