Finally fixed my stutter/jitter/choppy framerate

TL;DR check your monitor "frame time" is set to minimum for games. 20ms response time is a very accurate visual representation of a headache.

So:-

I have always had stuttery gameplay experience since BC2 and also in BF3. WASD'ing was ok but all mouse movement was jittery and horrible.

Replaced every single part of my PC except the PSU, I have a spare I was about to try tomorrow. It's been driving me mad, playing with drivers, overclocking, underclocking, messing with voltage, reinstalling stuff. etc ETC. I wanted new kit anyway so nothing lost. FINALLY got a decent monitor and in a moment of madness I went through the settings for giggles, "frame time" what's that? it's set to 20 and goes from 200-5. I have 5ms response I wonder what happens if.... OH SWEET JESUS THAT LOOKS GOOD.

I swear even typing this looks so nice I want to lick my monitor (luckily just had pudding, fruit crumble and custard).

I hope this helps another noob. I shall sign off in shame now.

Where was the setting?
Was it a Windows setting, or did you push buttons on your monitor smile.gif

I guess you're both right thumb.gif
But it's a silly setting, if you ask me biggrin.gif
I mean, why was it set at 20ms when it can do 5ms??

Correct, in the monitor menu.

It was set to 20, presumably for longevity as the monitor isn't work so hard? Going to see what 200 looks like. 5fps if that logic is right. Text on the desktop isn't so crisp but its a nice kind of fuzzy, like a fresh crewcut.

20ms - effectively limits fps to 50? I tried different caps and 45 looked the same type of unsmooth but worse!

Edit. Samsung 2493 or something, 24" if anyone was going to ask.

I need to check my screen for a setting like this... I have the same issue. But most games if I cap them at 59fps, I get smooth as butter game play.
