No. However, you can download third party tools to restore the old start menu. If you "disabled" the metro, you loose easy access to a lot of things (not just shortcuts, but admin tools, control panel, etc---Yes, there are other ways to get to this stuff).

You also lose a killer admin menu shortcut if you disable it.
