Windows 8 first try & first impressions

I don't get it. Took me half a minute to figure how to reach the desktop. The UI is pretty good, even with a desktop & a 27' screen. I can easily imagine myself configuring the metro as I wish. Overall good job windows, I thought windows 7 was perfect as it was, well I like even more win 8 being everything I like with win 7 with some extras.

Anyhoe for 15$ this is well worth it.

No. It's that having that grotesque monstrous screen with huge bulbous tiles on it instead of a small slick interface is counter intuitive on a desktop PC.

Most of the apps intended for it's use are designed for mobile phones. Blow that up onto a full screen monitor and they look ridiculous.

Not like that's much of a loss, the app selection is extremely poor.

All of the screen real estate goes to waste on those butt ugly tiles.

There will be some stumbling blocks for experienced users. My experiences were just so, and I decided to reinstall 7 after a few weeks. Win 8 is a decent OS but I think it needs some more time to mature, or I do. Not sure which...

Faster with more functions.
metro once getting used to is like a page of all the programs you installed and then pin the one you use mainly in desktop.
better view than windows 7 by far.

desktop use is vastly improved for me.

This... Plus there is place for customization, saying it is ugly and doesn't fit on huge screen depends on what you like. If you don't want to use metro, don't use it... It takes less than 5 mins to boot directly on desktop instead of metro. Also the apps aren't just the apps you buy but anything you want it to be... You can put whatever you want. How could you hate on a windows 7 with more functionality?
I am getting used to, learning all the different paths possible to do what you want to do.

You overclocked your computer, you should be able to follow a step-by-step guide to tweak win8. If you don't want to customize the OS to your liking, get a Mac biggrin.gif

You can right click any of the large icons and select "smaller" and they become smallish squares instead of large rectangles. At that point they are only slightly larger then windows 7 icons.
Happy time PC.

Haha sweet learned something new again!

I'm glad I have been a long time proponent of windows keyboard shortcuts in the past! I even look for it when interviewing people at work. We give them a little Office test.
