Yes, there are others doing a fantastic job also. But why detract from ANYONE who has made even the smallest efforts.

The point I'm getting at:

How many people will stumble upon the Red Cross website today compared to a large Tech company.

It's simply giving people an option they otherwise mightn't have had.

Bash them for their maps or something, but not for this, however small the effort made is.

Apple is making easier for their user base to donate to charity, which in turn helps those in the wake of Sandy. How that can be spun into a bad thing is stunning.

Could Apple donate? Sure. So could any one of other "oh-so-coveted-on-OCN" companies... though I'll let other users fill in the blanks with companies they hold so dear.
