Sorry, but you logic fails hard.

My logic is pretty water tight. Also, you just also accused me of trolling inception style. So, if anything, we're now both in fowl of the TOS.

And no, I haven't said anything out of line with the TOS (language wise). If the filter doesn't filter it, you're ok. I would personally account "piss" as a swear word worthy of filtering, but the admins here don't, so I assume it's safe to use.

I haven't done anything wrong, tongue.gif

EDIT:

But I am off right now because the missus has come upstairs to watch a film wink.gif She's one person I won't argue with redface.gif

having lost power for over a week and seen so much damage to my town, trees crushing houses, fights breaking out over gas and bread, having to throw out bags of rotting food, and almost losing my grandfather to the cold due to a lack of electricity, seeing apple do this seems more selfish than anything, and really bothers me.

just my opinion having suffered through it, glad to say power came back on today and that family is alright.

How exactly is it selfish may I ask? They are helping raise donations for the Red Cross / Sandy Relief, and not keeping the normal 30% they normally do from iTunes store sales.

No one yet knows publically if they have or have not donated yet so there can be no comment on that until something comes of light, either 3+ months down the road after everythings back to normal and still no donation, or they may donate a few million tomorrow, no one knows how it will turn out.

But as for opening an extra way for users to donate to the red cross, it is in no way selfish but the exact opposite. It may be for PR, but then again so were all the other examples here ( NFL and such donating ), as it would be with any company.

To me it seems like all corporations donating to Red Cross/Sandy Relief are doing it for their own image, in fact they are. It's called a PR stunt. Corporations don't care about how well people are doing. If they did then how come they don't donate things to people starving in the world? Apple haven't stated whether or not they are going to donate their own money.

I lived through it too I know how it's been tongue.gif I've been helping out around some of the worst areas that we got it in VA freezing as well ( not stuck in a house though as my truck is lifted higher than most of the water can hurt ) and heading up to NJ either Monday or Tuesday to help out some friends and their families tongue.gif

But as I said, any company who donates or does things like this is purely for their image ( PR ). Whether it's the NFL donating, or thinkgeek, it's all to say *nudge* " Look at me I donated " doesn't matter how small or big the company. And no one knows if they'll donate themselves or even if they have and just not made it publically known yet, that's just something we'll have to find out later.

I would think that someone who experienced the devastation would be more concerned about the fact that they may possibly receive extra help through donations than whether a tech company "looks good" to some people.

I mean, I'd expect the same of all people, but even moreso from those suffering through it.

A simple question for those resenting Apple for this. Is the possibility for good publicity for Apple in the eyes of some really that bad? Would it be worth losing the possibility for an increase in contributions to the Red Cross to ensure that Apple doesn't benefit from any good publicity? The pros of having a contribution button on a popular digital distribution service is that it may lead to increased donations for disaster relief. The cons are that a tech company you might not like may get some good publicity. How anyone could take this information and actually be against having more ways to donate and increased exposure is completely beyond me.

no it really just pisses me off, because the whole situation (at least in new jersey) has been handled terribly.

I wish more people thought like you here. To be able to see past Apple and whether or not they get good PR and just focus on the extra benefit this'll provide the Red Cross / Sandy Relief.

Mainly because no one thought it would be this bad tongue.gif Last time I remember this much damage at least around here was back during Isabel.
