[TR] Apple enables 'Superstorm Sandy' donations in iTune Store - Page 6

I really don't understand why people take issue with this. The Red Cross is going to benefit greatly from the exposure they receive by Apple allowing their entire user base a quick and simple way of donating.

Is Apple going to write it off? Probably. Does the end justify the means? Absolutely.

Pretty much this. Itunes, without a doubt, gets several magnitudes more visitors than the red cross website. This will only increase the donations they receive. How can this be a bad thing?

Let's see if the over 600 billion dollar company makes any donations of their own or if they just have their customers do the heavy lifting.

See, that would make sense. However, that would also show that Apple has some sort of compassion for humanity... and they don't.

This is just a publicity stunt for Apple. Yeah, I said it. And, I get it, some of you (very few btw) will look at this and say, "OMG, more Apple hate!"
Reality is, they've developed a reputation worthy of hating.

I couldn't agree more, Apple is taking advantage of the situation to make themselves look good and use it as a tax write off. Already donated $200 to redcross.org thumb.gif

There isn't a corporation in existence that wouldn't skin babies for an extra nickel of profit. If apple or IBM or google or intel or whoever could Cause hurricanes for strategic advantage not a single one would hesitate for even a second if they could get away without repercussion.

All corporations, apple included and by no mean an exception, are heartless sociopathic abominations.

Dunno why anyone in this thread seems to think apple is any different or worse then any other corporation. Compassion is something humans have. All corporations have is limitless greed and a complete lack of Human morals in acquiring profit.

Why the hell would I want to donate through apple?!
There is perfectly simple and working link on red cross website:

Guys your fighting is rediculous

Entire neighborhoods with dense populations were completely submerged.

Stores have lost hundreds of thousands, some millions of dollars worth of equiptment.

Insurance is going to take forever, plus not everyone had flood protection.

On top of that we can't get to work and there's no more gas. There's millions of people living in each borough and none have gas and some still don't have power.

New jersey was seriously hit and a huge chunk of populated coastland is gone.

Apple wants it to be easy to donate 1-click solution using iTunes... If its going to help even .30 cents of every dollar it will help.

We have just so many people completely dumbfounded, homeless, broke and scared.

^This! The damage caused by this storm makes the one we had last look mild. Last year the storm left most of CT without power for almost 2 full weeks. Let's not mention the flooding, huge trees ripped out of the ground and thrown across houses and roads, etc. Yes this is probably a publicity stunt but WHO THE HELL CARES!?!?!?!?! The point is they are helping to raise money and every damn penny is needed. You are talking about a storm that devastated the east coast, not one state but MANY. Put aside your stupid and petty arguments for once in your lifes and show compassion to those that have had their lives utterly destroyed by nature. While some people may be covered through inssurance it by no means covers all of their losses and damages and on top of that they will be seeing their premiums going up.
