Open poll type thing: Why didn't you buy Sleeping Dogs? - Page 6

I did buy it. I feel that must be said.

I guess you can call me cheap, but I'll probably buy it in a winter sale. I've just been waiting for a price drop while I finish my backlog. The game looks fantastic.

Personal reason: too expensive and too many other games left to play.

Reasons why i think other people didn't buy it:
-Bad advertising + name. I'm pretty sure that if they were allowed to call it True Crime 3 or something like that, that it would have sold a lot better.
-The setting is Hong Kong and not "Americanish" like the GTA games.

Looked like a good game, had money laying around.
Has really good graphics and is enjoyable.
Why wouldn't you buy it?

No, I'm not going to harp about it being good.
This is not a thread for me to argue with people about certain aspects of it.
I just happened to read that Squeenix is probably going to lose over 60 million this year, largely because they went all out with this game and it sold horribly. This bugs me because they did a pretty good job bringing it to PC, just like we've been whining and crying that nobody does, and yet they got pretty much nothing in return. There are a couple minor things to gripe about in regards to the port quality, but they're really minor complaints. Before you even start to complain about problems with the port, think about Borderlands 2, and it's problems.... Still want to complain? Okay then.
It just really concerns me that a company can put in a good effort, produce a good game, and still get ignored by us. So tell me, what're they doing wrong? If I hear some legitimate problems that I can empathize with, I'll copy it and email it to Squeenix just because I feel like putting the effort in. I am enjoying the game enough to warrant it.
No real poll because I expect the responses to be too varied to be easily covered in one.

Uhm... did ya' think that just maybe nobody bought the game because in the end it just didn't look that interesting to them? Just because a ton of effort is put in doesn't garaunty success. Entertainment is hit or miss, and this game seems to have been a miss. I think that I bought it on Steam, but honestly I can't remember for certain, and that's the whole point - it simply doesn't excite enough to be memorable.

Just looked like those invisible wall, linear, play it once and never again type game. Why are these still considered "AAA" titles? They aren't worth $50-60. They are worth $20 at most if not $10.

After you blow $60 on it they will release all their DLC piece by piece for $20 each when the DLC is barely worth $5. A couple skins and a vehicle? You can have a dollar. If I'm feeling generous.

i'll buy it for $5 in either the steam winter or summer sale, i will properly only play it once and it doesn't appear to be worth much (like max payne i'll buy that at $5 as well lol).

Never heard of it and after looking at it, it doesn't appear to be my kind of game.
