Not claiming to know much about tech jargon, but "asymmetric multilevel outphasing" reminds me of a PLL timing chip. No clue what weight that statement holds.
On the other hand, it could be that they've just switched from one big jump in power (from idle to working) to many fast and small ones, thereby allowing for a lower standby power without causing that distortion they were talking about. I suppose you could think of it in terms of sidestepping Vdroop.

I figure you're right. Wasn't there that Razor or something where you could pay a premium for extra battery life?
