It would look in to some aftermarket cooling if you are going to overclock it any farther.

Well, not really. Safe temp. for that card is 90-95C load. It will get permanently damaged at above 105C

No, it's not dangerous.

When testing how good my AS5 was on my card, when I tried a new way of putting it on, which, btw, didn't work that well - my card reached low 90's.

It's obivously better the lower its at, but nothing up until the 100's will really hurt anything. (Assuming you aren't getting any artifacts due to heat).

Mine currently loads @ 85C in ATI Tool. About 78C during a game and such.

*edit*
Didn't see that your card is an "older" card.
Yeah. 90C isn't good for your card. Try to keep it below that and your fine. Newer cards and take ~115C.

overclocked cards will fail sooner - more heat, more breakdown but how long does anyone keep their card for anyhow - 3 years? I think not - if you do, don't overclock it.

I bought a Diablotek 6600A for a kid in the family and oc'd it as far as it could possibly go (can't recall clock) but I got that card for $28CDN so if it dies, whatever but if you spend a few hundred on a card you have to ask yourself how long do you plan to keep it. For me, I push my card to it's furthest peak and although I change cards frequently, I've had my x800 over a year clocked to the moon and she still runs in my gf's puter.

edit: btw, my 8800gtx runs over 90 degrees under load

Your fine at those temps but you might want to download a temp logging program and track it while you play a game like oblivian or fear...
