Orange sparks? or orange lights? personally, I don't think sparks of any color are a good thing.

But please, give us more background on what hardware you have. I can find a good video to help you with putting it together, just give me a minute.

Edit: And also what all happens when you press the power button. Does it just not do anything at all, do fans spin up and then stop, do the spin up and not stop?

Is the red light you're referring to the debug LED? If so, look in the motherboard manual. On page 113, there's a list of codes that could lead you to your issue. All that said, you have your CPU 4/8 pin plugged in?

Take out the GPU, run on integrated graphics. Replug the two power cords (CPU in the top left, motherboard to the right of RAM) going to your motherboard.

What version BIOS is that board running? Newest is F18. I'm not sure if that's for Ivy Bridge support or not.

Edit: F18 is an update to CPU Microcode, just for the record.

CPU support list says that chip has been supported since BIOS F8, but the board's earliest BIOS is F7. Would suck for that to be the bios version...
