Hey guys,

I am starting a new mod soon, and have been in need of a new modding table for a wile... the dimensions of the space i have to work with is 51"x 39" (61"x 39" if i move my book case)... would you guys recommend me a cheap sturdy desk to go in this space? i am open to building one and have the skills too if that would be cheaper... im just not very up on speed on desks and have no idea what it would cost

I'd use 3/4 inch ply, or at least 1/2 inch ply for a minimum.

This is the desk I am going to be making soon. I will be gathering all the material soon. Everything will be from IKEA except the table top. That will be a solid wood door from Home Depot or a custom door shop here in town.

I know this isn't the best drawing, but it is the best I could do in MS Paint and while at work.

Measurements:

Width: 80"
Depth: 32"

Table top height: 27.5"
w/Monitor Stand: 32.5"

Monitor Stand Measurements:
Height: 4"
Width: 48"
Depth: 12"

Tabletop Thickness: 1.375"
Monitor Stand Thickness: 1"

The monitors will sit a little high for most, but it will be just about eye level for me so it should work out just fine.

The total desk should cost me just about $160 and I will have a ton of space for everything I have.

I have found that it will be cheaper to make a desk and I have all the tools to do so, so why not!

If you are close to where I live and in need of some tools let me know. I have a large supply of tools that I can get my hands on.

Hope you can build something nice in that space that will fit your needs.

I find it amazing that you could do that much with paint

... And be sure to check that your Ikea stuff can support the weight of a solid wood top, as ikea stuff is usually made out of particle board, which isn't the strongest... As for the tools, Ty for the offer, but I live in south OC and have access to a full metal and wood shop down here, so I should have everything covered

and ty for a refrence

Lol... Mine won't be much to look at... I guess calling it a desk was a bit miss leading... "thrown together modding table" would be a more accurate name

just get two chains and hang a peice of plywood from the ceiling. Done!
