That is a bit sad, I wish they had marketed themselves more here in the states. They do make a really good product, and I have always been pleased with any I purchased. Hopefully they pull out of this and can keep going, if not, I will just have to snag some more Sharp products at "drastic" discounts.

I bought a 1080p 42" for about $250 around superbowl sunday last yr. Was just another sale item at a regional retailer. I made best buy price match.

I hope to buy another one.

This comes on the heels of news that Apple switched from Samsung to Sharp LCDs. Late last year Japanese manufacturers Sony, Hitachi, Toshiba merged their display business units to form Japan Display and save costs but it seems Sharp was left to fight on its own. Maybe we will see a similar spin off of Sharp's components division, the components they produce are still top quality and there may be some interest in buying them out.

I love the Sharp Aquos line. Our company uses them at trade shows, and all the TV's in my house are Sharps.

If they cut prices deeply, I might be inclined to pick up couple new monitors for the computer room.
