Vertex 4 is most likely slow, no idea what else to do.

Hey,
My new Vertex 4 seems to be slow to the speeds promised. I really ran out of everything I can do and think of.
Only problem I can think of is the blue sata cable which says 3gbps/6gbps ... I'm sure it's connected to SATA 3 on my mobo, set AHCI to both PCH and GSATA3 in bios, 30GB of space used on SSD. Speeds are promising around 550/450, anyone got any idea? I get even lower speeds in HDtune, FW is latest.
I'm really not sure about the AHCI since booting takes around 2 seconds more, but I don't really mind, huge jump from 6 mins boot.

Just to confirm

You have 8 SATA ports, going from the bottom of the board up, you have 4 SATA 2 ports, followed by 4 SATA6Gbps ports. You're not putting it in the bottom 4 are you.

GIGABYTE Z68XP-UD3 is my mobo. I have bunch of 3 pairs of ports and 2 more above with a little gap, those are 6gbps according to the manual. Its connected there.

That's fine and yes, those are the correct ones, you have used the blue cable that came with the motherboard with the L connector on it, you've got ACHI enabled...

Hmmm

Did you leave the microsoft drivers running the drive? Also have you done a windows update since you built the machine.

Comps

EDIT - Take out your seagate drive and test again

You spend all that money on a machine and don't buy the OS which in all honesty isn't that expensive anymore...

Either way, you're kinda screwed then.

Plug your SSD into the top connection on the white sata port.

Those gray ports are controlled by the a Marvell chip which are slower than the sata ports controlled by the Intel chipset.

Mine performs exactly the same, and the marvell sata controller is to blame. No much to do but change the Motherboard for one with an Intel controller
