The only thing I am concerned about is that windows 8 only will be getting dx 11.1. Other then that I dont really see any difference/big enough improvements to spend $150 when I have windows 7 that does the job just as good if not gooder.

After using Win8 for a while I am realizing that it works nicely with a multi-monitor setup. I have metro/metro apps running on a side monitor and a regular desktop for my main.

Same here! I wish I could make my apps screen stay up on my second monitor while playing a game on my main though. The apps screen is less distracting than most of the pics I have cycling through for my desktop background, if you can believe that.

$150? You can get Windows 8 Pro for $40 or $15 if you've bought a computer with Windows 7 in the last couple of months. You can even get it for free, if you're a qualifying student.

$40 is an upgrade, not a clean install. It effectively deactivates your windows 7 install, so it's only usable as a replacement. If you're buying it for a rig that doesn't already have an OS (or want to dual boot for whatever reason), you would have to buy a copy of windows 7 to install first, effectively making it more expensive than just buying the $150 retail copy.

$15 is still an upgrade, and everything above is still true, only now you also have to have bought a prebuilt windows 7 rig from a participating vendor in the past few months. In other words, not a single soul on this forum.

"Free" is only for a select few institutions, and honestly, 90% of the people who can make use of it are people with no income anyway and are dependent on their parent's allowances. In other words, the only small demographic (that visits this website) that can really get windows 8 cheaply, has no concept of money to begin with.

Not true, you can clean install and dual boot the "upgrade" without issue, I did both. It just has to downloaded originally from a Windows system.

I actually got the $40 upgrade and did a clean install and activated on a brand new SSD and I have retained my w7 license, which is running on another box atm.
