Am I missing something about Win 8? Alot of hype for what? - Page 10

I just installed it this morning and I have to say I really like it. The only thing I really HATE with all my soul is the lack of start menu, since I used the start menu for almost everything! I feel like I've lost the gate to windows or something like that. Its really annoying. And the "winkey" key, well.. it has to load a full screen page which takes like 5 times more then the old start menu, I mean... It doesn't take even a sec... You see on Win7 whenI'm working on my PC I use the start menu to get to files I need, and I get them almost immediately. Which is not the case with Win 8 . That almost "nothing" makes a whole world of diference IMO. I can't work with that smoothness on win 8 ... Bare in mind that not everyone need to be opening files every minutes while using their PCs

That's my opinion. I do think it runs a little faster then Win 7.

I installed it, then installed a little app called Win8 Start Button. It brings back the Start button/menu and theres a setting to skip Metro at login. Even without that program, it was pretty easy to just go to the desktop and have everything business as usual. Can't honestly say it's worth paying for at this point, but I get it free through work. Seriously this is nothing to fuss about, one way or the other, imo.

and yeah, it does seems a little snappier.

I like the look of it and it does seem faster than w7 ultimate, but even with classic shell I feel like a fool. So lost at the moment, I cant bloody get origin to run anymore either.

Didnt really like classic shell. Stardocks start8 was well worth the $5.

This.

I got it as well and I think that is the best thing I've done with $5. Now I really enjoy Win 8.

Fixed the origin bit, any antivirus I installed other than defender would crash it. Now if I run msi afterburner, I cant launch any games. Those are my only complaints but so far a fairly positive experience. Whats the difference between classic and W8 start? Classic seems to be working just like 7

been using it since I downloaded it on Tuesday and I like it, I'll keep it and I enjoy it more than win 7. Command line interface works wonders but even without, all the negative criticism is overblown and unwarranted.

What's there to get mad about? I never used any of the pre-release versions and had no problem figuring things out. It's so easy even a caveman can do it! hairysmiley.png

If it takes anytime to load the start menu at all somethings wrong. When I press the Windows Key my start menu's just there, no load time.
