g540 vs 6450

Thread Starter
Hi i'll be using my htpc to stream blu ray copy over the net and youtube full screen and various of other browsing

now i was wondering if a g540 is more than capable of doing that or will i have to get a 6450?

trying to keep this system on a budget

I was also wondering if it was worth the price hike to go for a better cpu? g630?

Thank you

My g530 does just fine on it's own. I see maybe 40% CPU usage at most.

thank you!

does anyone know which ram is most commonly used in budget htpc builds?

and what is a good price for 1x 4gb 1333mhz ram?

Get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147094 while it's still in stock, and use promo code EMCJJNH45 when you check out. It is reagarded as some of the best ram you can get, and is on a heck of a sale.

That should work fine, though even with shipping factored in, the Samsungs are a great deal.

Media streaming and the like aren't that demanding on ram, so anything with a good capacity should work.

okay, what do you think about this build?

h61 mobo: 25
G540: 47
silverstone Ml03b case: 50
MK silencer III 400w psu: 45
4gb ram: 14
sata 2 ssd: 35
logitech k400: 30

total : 200 after taxes and shipping

anything wrong with that build? Any suggestions?

I may be a bit partial but all that would fit in a mITX form factor. thumb.gif

Overall that seems like a good build though.
