PC upgrade.

Hello Overclock users!

I am going to upgrade my PC soon so i just wanna make this topic before hand,
Just to be sure i don't buy anything thats awfull D:

My current PC:

Processor: Intel I5 3570k
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V
Graphics Card: MSI R7950 V2
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8gb.
HDD: Seagate 1tb 7200 | Seagate 500gb 7200 | Samsung 1.5tb 5400
Power Supply: Cooler Master GX750
Case: Coolermaster HaFx
Cooling: Still stock..
Keyboard: Sidewinder X6
Mouse: SideWinder X8
Monitor: Dual screen Samsung syncmaster 2253lw | AOC i2353Fh
----

I would normaly have bought the coolermaster eisberg,
But since my shop says it will be not November, But januari now i am thinking to take a medicore cooler and just wait a bit till the 360 eisberg is out,

My upgrade looks so far like this:

Lights: nxzt 2m blue LEDs
SSDs: Samsung 830 256gb - X2 in raid0
Fans 200mm: Coolermaster megaflow blue LED - x4
Fans 140mm: SilverStone AP141-UV
Wifi: ASUS PCE-N15
CPU cooler: Cooler Master V8

Well the thing i am thinking about most is the CPU cooler,
My price range is 50-80 euro,
Since its just temp i aint sure if its wise to spend so much for a v8.
At the other hand i am thinking of not buying the eisberg anymore since its 170 euro for 240 rad series.

And i am also curious if my PSU can handle this upgrade, I think it should but i just wanna be sure.

Anyhow,

If you would recommend another product please look at this website:
http://translate.google.be/translate?hl=nl&langpair=nl%7Cen&u=http://www.alternate.be/
Since thats the one i would by my stuff from.

Thanks for your time and your help,

Best regards,
DrLuigi.

Screw the V8, if you're gonna drop £70 on a cooler you might as well go with either the H80 or the H100, I'd save a bit more and go with the H100, it's awesome.

Secondly yes your PSU will take that upgrade along with another GPU as well.

Why are you going with 256GB drives? Would the 128GB drives not work out a bit better for you with regards the cost?

DrLuigi,

Wow great rig. Your PSU should be fine.

Can I suggest a custom loop? Your case and current system would be ideal for that. You can slot a 360 rad to cool the CPU and GPU in the top with no problem, and maybe a 200mm rad in the front if you wanted. Admittedly, more than your budget thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

+1 for Samsung 830s, but raiding 2x 256GB seems an overkill!

Cheers,

DB

The thing i am still thinking about is,
I am doubting about still going for a Eisberg or getting a good one now already and stick with it,

With the SSDs, well 256 are faster then 128 with reading and writing, and same time i could store all my games and applications on them aswell,
then i can use my HDDs as media and music etc and a backup HDD for if my SSD ever fails.

Problem with customloops is that in belgium you hardly find those shops,
if you find them they are overpriced like hell due there arent alot of them and they take advance of that (xspc rx360 is 230 euro, aka 295 dollar +-)
Thats why i was looking for a eisberg.

And yes the 2SSDs can be a bit overkill, But at another side its aprox the same price as a 512gb SSD, so you get more speed in raid0 if you just buy 2 and raid em.

Also sorry for the double post, On some forums if you add a reply soon they just add it to the previous post, I thought it was the same here.

And thanks for the help guys smile.gif

I'm with compuman. Don't bother with the V8 grab a Corsair H100 and you'll love it. thumb.gif

I'm gonna be honest mate, the extra 80MB write whilst nice isn't worth the extra money you're spending on it... But hey it's up to you biggrin.gif

The RAID is a nice touch though

I'd still stick with the Hydro series for coolers though.

Well if i go with a h100 i would probably stick with it and not buying a Eisberg at all anymore,

What fans would you take for push pull? http://www.alternate.be/html/categoryListing.html?cat1=20&cat2=999&cat3=17&cat1=79&cat2=999&cat3=17&bfbox=1&&tn=HARDWARE&l1=Koeling&l2=Behuizing&

Since the cooler is a bit more expensive if i do the H100 i might do 128x2 in raid 0 since i else gonna put to much money into it :3
(Same story, its aprox the same money for 2 SSDs as 1 of the same memory in total of them two)

Owye small add,
I also heard storys that this one would be better then a H100 due the thicker rad:
http://www.alternate.be/html/product/Waterkoeling/Thermaltake/Water_2.0_Extreme/674708/?tn=HARDWARE&l1=Koeling&l2=Waterkoeling

Thanks for your help and time smile.gif

That's not entirely true, you can use different fans for different rads, thicker doesn't always mean better.

however, it's a good cooler. Not sure how it fairs up to the H100 though.

For fans http://www.alternate.be/html/product/Behuizingen_Koelers/Scythe/Gentle_Typhoon_D1225C12B5AP-15/350888/?tn=HARDWARE&l1=Koeling&l2=Behuizing are the best ones. Either those or the AP-14's

Seriously why spend so much on air cooling. Get a nice water cooler if you can. It would be a much more efficient solution.
