Windows 8 + Intel RST Enterprise Raid

Hey,

I've just upgraded to Windows 8 from Windows 7 (I did a fresh install so not really a upgrade as such) and previously in Windows 7 I had a raid array setup between two disks which was working 100% in Windows 7.

Now in Windows 8 I've installed the Intel RST enterprise driver: "Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology enterprise Driver Software V3.5.0.1096 for Windows 8 32bit & 64bit.(WHQL)." This has caused a number of issues.

Rather than my raid array showing up I just have a "Local Disk (F:)" that Windows tells me I need to format before I can use it, this appears from disk management to be one of the drives in the raid array. The other drive in the raid array shows up in disk management as not initiated.

Every time the computer starts up I get a message telling me that "windows smartscreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting" referencing "IAStorUI". If I override it and run the application anyway I just get an error saying: Intel Raid Storage Technology Enterprise - An unknown error occurred while running this application. If the problem persists, please restart your computer or try re installing the application". I've tried reinstalling.

Event manager is filled with "The IO operation at logical block address 0 for Disk 6 was retried." warnings - disk 6 is one of the drives in the array.

Anyone have any ideas (specs are in signature)? The array was working 100% 15 mins ago when I was running Windows 7 and I've not done anything apart from install Windows 8.

Thanks smile.gif

Hm, some reason the sata controller was set to AHCI mode rather than raid, not sure how this got changed by just installing Windows. Anyway when I rebooted after changing it back to raid I enter the raid config and got this:

What has happened? Why has one of the disks been kicked out of the array by just installing Windows 8 on a unrelated drive? I've circled the two disks that should be in the array.
