My mb temp using pc-probe II says 50 at load. Isn´t that a little hot? Its at 44 idle @ 23 ambient

Where is the temp meassured?

I have been fiddling with the fan on the northbridge. The heatsink was rocking back and forth a couple of times so i dont now if i have to reinstall the heatsink with paste.

Best regards

You should reseat it with some thermal paste. When you rocked it, it broke whatever would have been there and messed up the heat transfer.

Probe may or may not be giving you correct values. Indeed, any monitor may not be giving you correct values because very few of the sensors are calibrated and even fewer of the softwares. You also point out a pertinent issue, where is the sensor and what is it sensing?

My own M2N32 SLI MB temps run at about 48 to 50 at idle and 52 at load. It never goes over 53 and thats only under severe stress. A lot depends on how much air flow you have through your case and where the various flows are directed. If the air hitting the area around the MB sensor is coming right out of the CPU or GPU HSFs, you could be getting falsely high readings. Then again, what's normal for this MB?

Given all the unknowns I'd not worry too much about the actual numbers you get and more about the deltas between them over time. If you normally run at about 50 and the rig is stable, maybe 50 is OK. If you then see the readings hitting 60 for no reason, THEN you have a problem.

There are a number of other temp monitors available online.
