I need something more portable for school, but also want to replace my current laptop. Is there any large screen solutions to the tablet market for windows 8 without costing over $1200 or so?

Mouse has tracking troubles on multi-coloured pads, If you has small-medium hands it is palm or claw grip mouse. For large handed people only claw, go and buy ec1 if you want to palm.

I don't know of a tablet that large, offhand, but there are options close to it...
The 11.6" Acer W700 has a 1080p screen and comes in at under a grand. (It's more like a slate, IMO)
The 12.5" Dell XPS12 is a convertible laptop with a 1080p screen, but it starts at $1200.
There's also Acer's 13.3" 1080p touch-screen laptop, but that's more like $1300+
Unfortunately, most touch-based laptops do not feature resolutions above 1366x768
I was going to pull the trigger on a XPS12 or Asus UX32VD, but I bought a Nexus 7 to occupy myself until Haswell releases
