Having issues with my RAID 0 on reformat

Thread Starter
I installed a new SSD which required a format. I can't get windows to use my two WD Black 750's in RAID 0 now. I'm sure it's something easy and I guess I'm tired (getting over strep throat) so I'm oblivious to the answer right now.

Anyway I'm working with the sig rig. My HDD's are plugged in the GSATA6 and GSATA7 spots. Windows recognizes the drives but list them as Disk0 / Disk1 - Dynamic - Foreign. It gives me the option to "import foreign disk" but I can't loose anything on these drives.

Edit: I can boot the old SSD and back up the stuff on the RAID and format those if necessary, I'd just prefer not to thumb.gif

Mudfrog - was the original RAID a software RAID (i.e. Windows RAID)? Or did you configure it through the RAID BIOS? Was this array always connected to the GSATA 6 and GSATA 7 ports?

GSATA 6 and GSATA 7 ports are controlled by the Marvell 9172 chip. Sure that the RAID function for the Marvel chip is still enabled in the BIOS?

Are you sure that you still have the Marvel Storage and SATA Controller drivers still installed?

I've got a very similar setup as yours and also run a HDD Raid array in addition to my SSD Raid array.

However, if you've switched up the ports that the two member drives were originally connected to will present a problem going from the Intel controller to the Marvell controller, or visa-versa.

It's a software raid through Windows. The more I think about it I tried using the Marvell Raid and it would never work. The simplest solution for me was to let Windows control it. It makes more sense now why Windows didn't recognize it. thumb.gif
