Purpose in owning all 3. ( Xbox, ps3, pc)

Thread Starter
I already have a good pc. I know for sure I'm getting a ps3, there's no debate in that. But since I have a job with dispensable income I've been thinking whether there was a point to getting an Xbox too. The only games I can think I would get are the halo series and GOW. I don't know if I should get it for like only 7 games, that when I finish I probably won't touch again. I mean if the games are worth playing I'll buy it, but if not... Any opinions?

It's all about your priorities man. If you've got disposable income and an Xbox is what you want to spend it on, then do it.

I have an Xbox, PS3 and PC too, but I came to it in a round about way. I originally bought a PS3 at launch, then a Slim when the original died. Then I bought an Xbox because none of my friends had PS3s and I was tired of playing COD and a few other games by myself, and also wanted to play the first Mass Effect, and then the GOW series, Metro 2033, Forza, Halo, etc. And then I built a PC.

I'm happy with all of them and I would do it again if I needed too. Video games are a passion of mine, so just like car guys can justify spending several grand on coil-overs, turbos, tires/wheels, etc, I have no problem spending that on games/systems if i can spare it.

Have you ever played the games your looking at for the Xbox? Any of your buddies have them?

I played GOW 1 and halo 2 back in the day and enjoyed both of them. Most of my friends play on Xbox.

I still enjoy games on my ps3 and 360. First you have killzone, the uncharted series, god of war, mgs series, and heavy rain, and the katamari games on ps3. On 360 you have Halo series, gears of war, forza. Theres about twenty great games right there of the top of my head, sure I could come up with more If I really tried.

If you want to play the exclusives and/or have friends with the same system, why not.

I don't know if MS has done it yet, but they were in talk of offering the 250gb 360 for $99 with a two year live subscription.

Well, I wouldn't personally do it. Back in the day when I got my first Xbox 360, it was because there were no Playstation 3. Then from that day, I've always preferred Xbox over Playstation. The titles for both consoles differ, so that would probably be the main factor to whether to get them both or not. If you really want to play Xbox titles like Halo, Forza Motorsport and so on, you should get the Xbox if you can afford to get them both. Keep in mind though, that you have to pay for being able to play live on the Xbox too, which is one of the reasons some people get the PS over the Xbox.

I once had a Wii, 360, PS3 and a PC. At that time my PC was just a brisbane x64 x2 5000+ and my GPU was just a 9500gt. I sold all the others except the PC. Why? Because did not have much fun as much as in the PC. In the PC, I was able to multi-task, multi-monitor and etc. It was vastly superior. Plus I would consider my self as a mouse and keyboard gamer. There are only a couple of games that I have played on all the platforms and the distinct one is NFS: Carbon since I have finished it in all of the platforms. I'd say that the superiority of customizability again of the PC won hands down. To be honest there is no reason for me to play the 360 other than play the exclusive titles and Kinect. PS3 has blu-ray and is so much cheaper now. About a third of the price when I bought the PS3 (fat) is the current retail price. Wii is on another league. It's in the same family (consoles) but is of a different genus. Other than that, generally speaking the consoles have less headaches since you won't bother much about compatibility, bugs and upgrades.

I have a Xbox, PS3 and PC. I'm not the kind of person that does not prefer one system over another. I embrace them all. What I like about owning all is that I won't miss out on any exclusives. I really like my games and all kinds genres. If you really believe you're only going to play the Halo and GoW series on the Xbox, you could purchase a used system and the used games, play them and resell them. Or buy a used Xbox, find some friends who have the games and borrow them. You can find some really cheap deals on eBay or Amazon for those games and you can easily resell the games back for the amount you bought them for. I do this all the time.

The only exclusive that was worthwhile on the Xbox 360 was Dead Rising. I wish they would port it, I've had an itch to replay it.
