for some stupid reason i cant open anybodys links,,just takes me to Newegg home page,
i think if your rig is getting good air flow,,,they should last for years,,
i have never used gigabyte before always stuck with ASUS,,,so far so good,,no fires yet LOL
i always go with a filtered, high air flow case,,,,lots of fans running slow,,very quiet
is there a reason you want SLI 2 gpu,,one bigger gpu will offer a lot less hassle, better power consumption, and more empty pci-e slots"""just a thought""
300$ for a gpu,,will get you a farely decent gpu for gaming,,blueray,,etc....you can get a 570 for under 300$,,that would suit all your needs,,,320 bit memory interface also

Yes go with that, it will be more than ample for your needs also it would free your slots so you can use all of the cards that you have.

both those boards would suit your needs well,,,,i've never used gigabyte before so i cant really speak for there quality,,i think cooling really helps for longterm useOriginally Posted by rusty oldtimer
Nice system trailer park.
My sony receiver has two optical jacks. So I could use the optics on a new board for the sound but I bought this 2yrs ago and used it less then 6mo. due to fan issue.
Currently my system is using the onboard audio via 3.5 to rca Y splitter and it sounds ok not great but ok.
I'm thinking about this one. (5 pci-e)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128509
I could save a few bucks and go with this one. (4 pci-e)

Never owned a gigabyte before, I'm pretty much been a asus fan. All the desktops in the house are old asus's, except the living room pc.
Thats only because all the other ones died. 2 msi's, 1 biostar's and 1 zotac died 3 days out of the box. When the last msi blew i was setting at my desk and thought i saw a led flashing on the board then POP! a big flash and some smoke :O That one lasted about a year and a half.
Do you think the gigabyte will preform well in a 24/7 environment for like the next 3 years?

well the decent phenom ii chips are pretty hard to find now,,,the new piledriver is supposed to run a little cooler,,,compaired to the bulldozer,,the 6300 is priced at 139$,,,, the 8320 is 179$,,the 965x4 phenom II chips is still available yet,,,under a 100$,,,,ii have one and it was good at gaming, but i didnt really do much multitasking with it,,,,,if your going to go with a FX series i would go with a visheraOriginally Posted by rusty oldtimer

I think i will go with the 6300 it's only 95w. The case is going to sit behind the the entertainment center on the floor
so dust is a big problem. I'm looking for like a sealed case with only openings are for the fans all other nook and crannies are sealed. No unnecessary vents and such. I would like to catch all the dust with ez to reach removable filters. Once I put it back there and turn it on, I don't want to mess with it agian. I was looking at some corsair cases
those are nice but not really sealed.
Also the mainboard is pci-e 2.1 and the 670 is a 3.0 is there a big performance gain with 3.0?
Should I start searching for a 3.0 board?

i think the difference in gaming benchmarks pci-e 3.0 vs pci-e 2.0 is maybe 3-4 FPS,,not much gain there,,if it was me i wouldnt worry about it,,coolermaster has some good case with lots of dust filters....but usually cases with dust filters are high air flow cases and become vacume cleaners LOL,,,,antec 902 or 1200,,,will have filtersOriginally Posted by rusty oldtimer
