RAM Voltage

Hello!

I have a few questions about the various G.skill ripjaw x series voltages. I would appreciate any feed back you all can offer.

My pending build is:

CPU: i5 3570k ivy
Mobo: ga-z77x-ud5h
GPU: EVGA nvidia geforce GTX670 FTW 2gb
RAM: G.skill ripjaw x series 2x8gb
HD: western digital caviar black 7200rpm 1 terabyte
Optical Drive: Sony Opti
PSU: Corsair HX series HX750 watt
Case: Antec 302 series

1. Is the G.skill ripjaw x series RAM on par with the rest of my build?
2. What RAM voltage would you all recommend with this build/i5 3570k ivy? 1v, 1.25v, 1.35, 1.5?
3. what is better 2x8gb or 4x4gb? (aside from having room to upgrade with the 2x8gb)


I Plan on playing Crysis, Crysis2 and Crysis3 on very high and ultra; planet side 2 on high, Dayz, starcraft 2 and command and conquer.

After a decent amount of research this build seems to be the best bang for the buck aside from a few extra dollars invested in the
Mobo and PSU. Is this a decent build and will it be able to run the games listed above on their highest setting (on dx11 for those that support) at 45-70 fps (exception: planet side 2 on high)?

I do not plan on overclocking right away.

The ram is on par (same as mine, with similar system), get 2x8 and the native volt is 1.5v.

Generally, 4x4Gb will be faster than 2x8Gb on Ivy Bridge for two reasons - first, on s1155 CPUs performance is a tiny bit better with using four modules instead of two (only noticeable in SuperPi 32M, I think) and 8Gb sticks usually need much looser subtimings (tRFC 200+, for example) to run at higher speeds.

What frequency and latency would you recommend?
I have been recommended 1600 but I read that 2130
works best with ivy.

Some cards say 9-9-9 others say 11-10-11-12
What works well?

If "bang for the buck" is your primary criterion then buying DDR3-2133+ rated mem makes little sense.
You might want to buy Samsung OEM memory (mentioned in nearby threads) if it's available in your area, use it at stock first and overclock it when time comes.

I want to stay with g.skill ripjaw x series ram but there are so many options. Are latency and frequency that big of a deal could i just go with 1600mhz?

If you go for the RipjawsX, the 1600 version might not overclock well and high binned versions might be expensive. You decide what you want.

I havehhad nothing but good luck with the Ripjaws Z 2133 9-11-10-28 1.65v 16GB kit. The memory can typically be pushed to 2400 with the same timings, or you can drop it to 1866 8-9-8, 1600 7-7-7 (I've seen 6-7-6 a few times), so very flexible stuff.
