sleeving question

Thread Starter
I have a corsair gs700 and want to sleeve it. I have the "sleeving tools" I got one connector out of the 24pin atx and noticed that the barbs go both ways, one goes up and one goes down. It took a ton of force to get one out and i was looking for a tip to make it not so difficult. Already poured blood onto my desk and cables thumb.gif

LOL

taking pints out shouldn't require alot of force, alot of force = things will break 99% of the time (( pins will break, tool will break, shell will break, etc. ))

Try to get your tool in the casing first, then push inwards with the pin (( like your putting the pin back in )) the press gently down with the tool and pull the pin out while holding both the shell and the tool in, and it should pop out easy.

Your scenario sounds like you got one side down but the tool wasn't in correctly so it didn't get the other down.

if you can't do it with the tool thats just lol, go watch some tutorials, I can easily do this with staples.

Kyis is right, first push the pin back into the housing.

The problem is the wings dig into the housing, so you need to free the wings before the extractor tool is able to squeeze them. Once they are loose and squeezed then the pin should come out much easier. Here's my excellent drawing again. The housing is the brown colour and you can see the wings digging in there.

it looks great man, thanks for the extra explanation thumb.gif
its kinda hard to explain something that doesn't 100% of the time work lol, tome times you just gotta keep jiggling it pushing the pin up in the housing and pushing the wings down in more attempts. But whatever you do, don't use alot of force, pins should go down fairly easy and it will slide out smoothly.
