[TT] Analyst: Medal of Honor brand might be dead

I still remember when Medal of Honor came out - that's about the time we got some wicked anistrophic filtering tech on our graphics cards and it was one of the first games I used it on. The game itself was phenomenal, and this was all before Call of Duty entered the first-person shooter arena.

What do you think may be the cause(s) of MoH dying?

I remember seeing the first game in a PSOne magazine and was amazed at what was written about it, had and complete every MOH game on PSOne and PS2 and loved every second of it.... These days though....

FPS developers really need to find something new in the FPS genre, too bad most of them these days are linear and generic, too much CoD clones.

You could blame CoD for this but the reality is that it's what the masses want. More gamers will buy a shoddy replica of CoD than a daring new IP, and that's because most gamers are teenagers with xboxes.

The first MOH games were big open areas that you could go any direction. Last few games have been on-rails games. You have only 1 way to go, like a short roller coaster ride. It blows imo.

We got more powerful computers, better video cards, make the game like it was back in the day. Big open area that you could go any which way that you want. I want to feel like I'm in control.

I think Airborn is the last big open area MOH, and it's pretty fun, still have it on my computer.

That's OK, let it die. It was great while it lasted. I spent a ton of time on the first couple, they were excellent games for their time.

A franchise doesn't die...They'll bring it back! EA said that the NFS series is dead but a few months later they announced a new title.

They weren't THAT bad. They weren't great but there's been far worse. Both of them came out around the wrong time and Warfighter had an extremely sloppy bug-filled release. Them not selling very well is pretty true, though, which is why the series is now "dead."

Medal of Honor has a 72 on Metacritic which is pretty mediocre and Warfighter has a 55 which is awful. Both games were pretty much universally panned. That's what happens when you release the most insanely paint-by-numbers, bland FPS ever. The MOH games have zero identity other than "Hey, lets try and be like COD".
