Depends on your usage, if you're just using it as a boot drive, then go for the 840 as you won't need the space, if you're using it as a main drive, you're not really going to see a huge performance difference and you'll want to have the extra space. I have an 830, its an extremely fast drive, if you go that route, you won't be disappointed thumb.gif

256GB 830 of course, the performance difference in use is very minute.

You won't really see any performance increase by getting the 840 PRO. I'd say go for the 830

As I see it, the only compelling reason to use the 840pro is if you need fast hardware encryption.

I am looking to buy the 840 pro as soon as its available because I need the fastest speeds possible and I also am required to use encryption when transferring work from home to the office.

Currently I am using an 830 as my OS system and I have a Neutron GTX inside of an Encrypted Startech password enclosure for transporting my huge files and it's not bad. It's faster than TrueCrypt but I think an 840 with its hardware encryption will smoke it. For me it will be worth the extra money not to take the encrpyted performance hit, as even my startech drive is only ~260mb seq reads compared to 360 in unprotected USB enclosure.

You should have a 7.8/7.9. Something is set wrong. Can you post a screenshot of AS SSD?
