Thread Starter
hello everyone
i have my xp installed on my sata2
and i just hooked up an old IDE drive i had laying around in my room
and now i have a problem: in the bios i cannot set the sata2 to boot first, it keeps booting from the old IDE drive, how can i change this?
i have an a8n32-sli deluxe

i think my sata2 is plugged in as fifth master or something, LOL, ***?!?!
somebody plz help me out here, im a little noeb

i read the manual over and over, but it doesnt say where exactly i should plugin the sata2 drive so it becomes a primary master or whatever

Bios....Boot.... Boot Priority... set sata drive to top by hitting page up or down.... that should do it....

btw all 4 satas act as removable media for some reason so no sata specific primary

also...what do you have ide drive set as slave?? or cable??

ok at first i couldnt set the sata2 to boot first
now i suddenly can,
but when i save bios and try to boot up, the xp logo pops up for a second
then i have those 30 seconds to chose if i wanna loadup normally or into safe mode and if i choose startup win xp with the same settings as last time i get a bluescreen and the pc reboots itself

remove the ide drive....look at back of drive ... you should see three slot one for power one for ide cable and one with six pins and a lil black jumper across 2 of them... inspect the drive for a diagram matching that pin configuration... it will say master...slave...cable.... either move pins to slave or cable position
