CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($139.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master GeminII S524 77.7 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($32.92 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI 990FXA-GD80V2 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($168.49 @ Newegg)
Memory: Samsung 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($18.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Samsung 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($18.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Green 1.5TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive ($95.24 @ Amazon)
Storage: Samsung 830 Series 256GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($199.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7870 2GB Video Card ($239.99 @ Amazon)
Case: Corsair 500R Black ATX Mid Tower Case ($79.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: SeaSonic 750W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($149.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $1129.58
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

I already have:
Seasonic psu $110
500r case $80ar
Samsung memory 2x4gb $29
Caviar Green 1.5tb ~slave drive in current pc that Ill move over.

I was debating between the phenom 965be but settled with the fx6300. Also I dont plan on paying $1129 for this. Im sure Ill find some serious deals this month and check all parts I bought in one of my other pcs for functionality. Im estimating my final price to be ~$900. Already with the parts I bought own my final cost if I order everything else now will be $985.37, but I can wait a few weeks.

Im curious what you guys think about the mobo, gpu, and heatsink? Do you guys think the never settle bundle is worth bumping up to the 7950? I reall like the games included except the medal of honor discount which doesnt mean much to me. I figured this would be a good build if steamroller sticks to am3+ which was the plan before it got pushed off.

The gemini II isn't as good as a Cooler Master 212+ or Xigmatek Gaia and it is more expensive than the two.

I'd also avoid Motherboard Stability Inconsistent like the plague, and buy something like this.

+1 to all of this. the gemini ii is a SFF cooler, and is beaten by many coolers in the same price range.
a gigabyte ud3/ud5/ud7 would be a much better choice than the msi equivalent.

Ill definitely look into those. I heard the newer msi boards really redeemed themselves in terms of quality/reliability. I didnt wanna go asus because their refusing support for older am3+ boards for vishera. Ill check out the gigabyte boards though.

Also what heatsink should I consider? I heard some have problems with overclocking the fx-6300 so I wanted to make sure. A friend of mine told me he read the hyper 212 +/evo had problems with it.

And how about my choice of gpu? I wanted to stay away from sapphire due to the blackscreen issues/cheap components I heard they used recently. Should I stick with the 7870 or go with the 7950, I game in 1920x1080.

Other than what you guys mentioned does my build look solid if I can pull it off at ~900? I know I overdid it on the psu*, but I play to crossfire and overclock and It was a good price at the time.

my hyper 212+ has had no problems what so ever. what could have a problem on it? thinking.gif

as for the graphics card, your current card would be fine, and so would a 660/660ti/670 or 7950/7970

I pulled the trigger on a gigabyte 990fxa ud5 + fx6300 deal. The combo was $10 off, the board had $25 + I got the %10 discount newegg mobo deal to work + $20 rebate. Its also came with a 1 year mcafee $40 value antivirus which I can sell on ebay for 15-20. Not counting the sale of mcafee my final cost for this is $264. I think I did pretty good.

Thanks I thought it was pretty good and posted it to slickdeals - http://slickdeals.net/f/5432774-GIGABYTE-GA-990FXA-UD5-AM3-Motherboard-AMD-FX-6300-Vishera-3-5GHz-CPU-FD6300WMHKBOX-Free-McAfee-AntiVirus-Plus-2013-1-PC-40-value-264-00AR-AC-EMCJJNH37-YMMV?p=54458944#post54458944 If anyone is interested how I did it.

This will be my first build from scratch. My last build I bought a p6310y hp pc, gutted it for main components then bought a case, psu, gpu and build it up with a black caviar drive. Im excited that Im getting great deals so far.

I have the ud3 version of 990fxa board its a good board i would imagine the ud5 would be even better. Just heads up idk if you'll have this problem but i did you might have to set your memory speed. am running 1600 mhz ram and would default to 1333 mhz. i know both boards had this problem when i was doing my build back in August.
