[TR] You know who else hates Windows 8? Hackers

Judging by the buzz among security researchers and IT dept bods, the most interesting changes are: the built-in tool Windows Defender now tackles all kinds malware rather than just spyware; the use of digital certificates to ensure the machine doesn't boot up a compromised or tampered Windows installation; and the new Early Launch Anti Malware (ELAM) system that scans the operating system for malware and ensures antivirus software is the first thing to run on a freshly booted computer.

I do hope for the day I can uninstall my anti-virus programs. This is a good step but they'll bypass it soon enough.

A, word. Well, I'm already free of worry with respect to viruses, because I can't be bothered to worry about something like that. If I get a virus, then I'll deal with it, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

Giant waste of time and resources if it can be built into the kernel itself on a much lower level than user space and be nearly transparent on resources.

Right now I'm on Windows 8 only using the build in Windows Defender. I never had a problem when I used Avast, AVG, or Avira so its probably just my browsing habits. So far I'm thinking Windows Defender will be enough for me.

And then it'll be patched. The Windows 8 interface(metro) is also sandboxed from the rest of the OS, so it does provided more security for novice users which in tern leads to less takeovers and less bots.

Windows 8 is definitely a step in the right direction for that.

Windows 8 is an improvement over Windows 7 in many (primarily evolutionary) ways smile.gif I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I no longer had to download MSE when I installed Windows 8. (I typically pair it with MalwareBytes)
