[TR] You know who else hates Windows 8? Hackers - Page 2

I'd really like if Windows Defender could do the job of really good anti-virus like Norton without the ridiculous performance drop. I know OCN hates Norton but they continuously win the performance crown.

But do note I don't like Norton, it just does it's job very well.

This is great news, although it's just not enough for me to jump on the w8 wagon just yet. I will keep it in mind for the not-so-savvy internet browsing friends I have though rolleyes.gif

I just hope that the migration of malware to windows 8 is retarded for as long as possible. I'm sick of having to constantly tell my computer-illiterate parents to not click the pretty kitties to win the lottery.

Those tests aren't real world and are highly off. I used to install Norton as part of my last job and almost every person complained that their PC was much slower after we worked on it. Removed Nortons and had them install a free AV like AVG and they were amazed at how much better it was.

Norton is a resource hog and slows down systems rather badly. Especially those that are running on lower specs like a C2D or i3.

It's good that they're beefing up the security. It's inevitable that someone will bypass it but it's going to be a lot more difficult and a lot more code. Some samples of ZeroAccess were over 140mb in size due to the nature of its rootkit process, made it take an extremely large amount of code and exploiting different vulnerabilities. Difficult to be infected with as the payload had to be loaded in increments but once it was on the system it was a [female dog] to remove for the first few months after it was found. I wouldn't expect any major rootkits for quite awhile with Win8. Once they start finding vulnerabilities they should be patched rather quickly.

The Norton sold to consumers sucks. The corporate version is better. If you had to pay for an AV (which you shouldn't since MSE/MBAM/Windows Defender are good enough), I'd grab BitDefender or Kaspersky over Norton any day.

Wow after reading this feedback from every one of you personally who have experience or have knowledge about the advance security that offers. Makes me think i should get Windows 8 for my new build if the security is that so good.

What about games? Would they be patched too? I don't have Windows 8 but i hear many different results when it comes to Origin i dunno.

However the moot point is i heard Windows 8 have alot of demanding on vram? Doesn't that affect gaming or you can disable that?

I know there's Start8 and other third parties or classic chell to use after reading a few more tips on having Win 8 feel like Win 7.

I decided right away when he said there won't be rootkits for a long while but it'll get patched eventually fast biggrin.gif

This is a buy then. Not to mention they have bios secure boot too included with certain motherboards i believe biggrin.gif

Now i have a question.

What is the best route to buy a clean installation with Windows 8?

Because they are so much different.

Which is a proper idea? The full retail or upgrade version.

Also does running and customizing your tablets affect your gaming performance also? Or would they need to be disable without any conflicts while gaming?

How friendly is Windows 8 with PC games such as Skyrim, older games perhaps and BF3?

I heard people had problems with upgrade versions cuz they are OEM?

That's good to see them working hard on security, Sinofsky is taking Windows in a good direction on the security performance front.
I'm still waiting a while before I upgrade, will have to buy an OEM copy sadly.
