Windows 8 Mic Issue

Thread Starter
I've upgraded to Windows 8 64-bit and everything is working great except my mic. It's an AT2020 USB mic, and on 7 I could have it at about 20 percent or lower volume and everyone could hear me fine and it could pick up my voice perfectly. Now on 8 it has to be at almost 80 percent. When any lower it wont even pick me up talking. I've tried multiple usb cables and computers, as well as booting into linux mint, and they all work fine. Any ideas?

Thanks

I have that exact microphone. Let me try mine under Windows 8 and I will get back to you.

Thanks, let me know if anything similar happens.

It's simply a driver issue. See if you can get the new drivers for it. That should fix it.

I don't know if I can get newer drivers, the drivers are the most recent windows 8 ones. Can't update or rollback or anything.

Windows 7: The microphone works very well. sounds excellent after just plugging it in and running sound recorder to do a few tests.

exceptional quality.

Windows 8: Nothing would give me a decent recording level. Whisper quiet .

I dual booted my system between the two so everything was equal but the operating system.

Definitely a Windows 8 issue, but it's a new OS so I am not surprised.

Yeah that's what I thought, hopefully it gets sorted out soon. Thanks for checking thumb.gif
