Joined the Team after reading this, doing the Milkyway project, seems to use both my GPUs so I guess its working good. Seemed to have scored 8000 credits in about an hour. That any good? Got nothing overclocked here either.

That sounds about right because it means you'd be putting out ~192K/day.

Ok cheers mate, think I'll get the GPUs overclocked at little, prob around 950Mhz and 1375Mhz on the GPU and Memory respectively bump those numbers up a little, perhaps throw a 4.5Ghz OC on the CPU aswell.

I may just run this stuff overnight as the electricity is cheaper during those hours, so hopefully I can put in around 100,000 credits a week if I keep it up and it doesn't get to expensive lol

Nice to know that I'm contributing for something though smile.gif

Not quite on topic, but I'm amazed to look back a couple of years to see the rate of accumulation of credit back then...

We are lucky to have such amazing hardware, I've gone from 320 MB 8800GTS to 3072 MB HD7950 !

Quick question are you running both of your graphics cards, since it looks like you got a pair of 6950 or is that a single card in sig? With my 6950 @ stock 800Mhz I put out about 182K, if I OC to 910Mhz I get 225K a day. So you maybe only running 1 out of the 2 cards or it is using two cards on each WU

Hey, I don't know much about how all this works atm, however I'm sure both cards are being used as there both around 95% Load when I'm running BOINC. Are you running the MilkyWay one?

Also I think I've underestimated how much I can contribute, I looked at my Credits and I have 32K and I haven't run much today at all

Its 2.30 here now, I'm going to run again for an hour and look at my Credits again, think I'm maybe doing 10K an hour not 8K. So at 3.30 I'll check my creds and compare.

EDIT

Ran for an Hour, my total credits are now 48K, so my system knocked out 16K roughly in an hour. Seems quite good. So that could be around 384K per day if I ran for 24hours!? Or 2.6Million per week!?

16K per hour looks good for 2 x 6950 running Milkyway that is about twice what I was getting running 1 X 6950 so that is correct. The first quote further up the page of 8K an hour made me wonder some.

What you eventually find out is that having a spreadsheet that you can log you times and points in make Boinc a little easier to keep track of and reference. That way you can track small changes to see if a tweak is worth the effort each individual project.

I was just wondering if someone had any insight into the real world impact of this accomplishment or from participating in BOINC or Folding@home in general. I figure 10 billion credits sounds like a lot but can anyone actually attribute this to any milestones in any of these projects?
Is there any way of knowing if our unfathomable number of calculations actually discovered anything useful?

Cheers mate for the feedback, I've been running a little more and hit 200K no problem. I think for Overclock.net in the Milkyway Project I'm already 18th or something. If electricity was free I'd run this 24/7

I'm quite curious to know this too.
