Help with re-installing a copy of Windows

Thread Starter
Complete noob here.

I need to reinstall my new copy of Windows 8. How does the activation work after re-installing? Do I have to de-activate or something before I uninstall?

Can someone walk me through this? Google isn't being too helpful with most results leading towards piracy issues.

Windows 8 is unlike Windows 7 in that you'll need to enter the registration key before it lets you install it. Don't worry about deactivation, you'll be able to register the same key again. I think they monitor the frequency in which you activate the key and if you activate the same key too often you may have to call them to confirm the key. 98% of the time you'll be able to enter your code and be on your way.

Basically just back up your important data, boot to the install disk, enter the key, install, reinstall drivers and restore the data and you're good to go.
