My Upgrade parts and OCing for 4GHz on 1055T Phenom II x6 - maybe

Thread Starter
This is on my signature rig.

Ive braught in the crosshair V Formula, H100, waiting for Vertex 4 SSD, and trying to reach 4 GHz oc.

Ram keeping below 1600 - 9-9-9-24 and sometimes close to 1333
1055T Multi locked 14x. bus ref 277ish

3.7 ( no tests conducted) and 3.805Ghz (7 tests pass) profiles saved - booted into windows and sat their for 10 mins without a BSOD.
Ive reached 3.891 Ghz with an error/worker 5 stop in prime95. within 6 tests. More refinement required.

44 C max temp so more like 56 C true temp. H100 (pull config - waiting on 2 sp120 fans to be delivered)

I will be editing this thread starter post with updates, values and images as i go.
Any criticism and advice welcome. This is my first real OC venture.

prime95 - 7 tests fine, but reached 62 C so im on pause untill i get my other 2 SP120 fans to improve cooling.
3.891 GHz on H100 'Pull' config.

update:
@ 3.92 Ghz, 22 mins uptime fine. No stability tests untill the weekend(SP120s). Bootable OC's are all i have to go by for now.

first thing, increase NB as high as you can, and keep HT close to stock.

You need it to reach high overclockings, and will gain a lot of performance.

And in response to your question

Actually :

CPU 4160 Mhz ( FSB 320/ multi 13x)
VCPU 1,5 V
NB 3200 Mhz
VNB 1,40
HT 1920 Mhz
RAM 1708 Mhz
VRAM 1,65

Others values to auto.

LLC ultrahigh on CPU /High on NB

Spread spectrum enabled

And i think is all

Refining my 3.9ghz OC... struggling with prime95 worker stops. Ive read increse Volts help, is there anything else to help keep volts lower?

Attempted a 4ghz OC and it crashed as windows reached welcome screen. Is there a usual cause for a crash at that point? I've lowered volts all over compared to the images previously posted. Will increase vcore tomorrow.

Got my 2 other fans. Much nicer temps.

Looking at adding an old 300 wat psu. 4 pin cpu cable and molex connections only.
By having 2 psu's plugged into the cpu(8 & 4pins)... will it work ok? Will it draw what it requires or be overloaded?

I dont want to buy a new psu and i have 1 old spare. Should improve OCs by what ive read on double psu Watt to rig consumption.

Ram might need lower speeds and volts to get a higher cpu OC.

Edit
Struggling to get my 3.905 ghz rock solid. Crashing during gameplay. Lowered Ht fromm 2200 to 1945.
Upd vcore 1 touch. Will see how it goes tomorrow night.
edit
Thats seems to have made 3.905 solid and on 1.475vcore. 58c prime95 / 42c gaming.
Refusing 3.919 with 1.488vcore.
Tomorrow may try lowering ram speed and volt to see if theres any more to push the cpu. Feeling like a wall though.

edit
Just read about how the north bridge can be over volted to give the system more power/stability. Next move b4 lowering ram.
- loving farcry 3.

3.905 Ghz is the limit of a solid OC with all 6 cores enabled. From 2.8GHz stock and locked multi, im happy. I would have to go 1.5V and over to reach a stable OC at 4GHz and I dont want to go over 1.475 Vcore as it can end up drawing close to 1.5V in operation anyway.
51C seems to be the highest temperature during prime95.

This will keep me happy until late 2013 when i'll be checking out the latest from intel and amd for the next rig.

Going back on my word and tinkering again. Reached 3.98ghz with instant errors in p95. Upping Vram to 1.65 let me get above 3.92ghz bootable. Playing with the memory may let me reach the 4ghz promised land.

Instant errors on all threads vcore 1.475 to 1.55 makes no difference. Tweaked other bits... stock cpu/nb and ram made no difference.
edit
no luck, errors everywhere!
instead found a 2.95GHz OC at 1.3 Vcore for a better speed and eco setting.
